Unisys has announced that its e-@ction Enterprise Server ES7000 surpassed the 23,000 concurrent-user mark in SAP's Standard Application Benchmark. Equipped with 32 Intel Pentium III Xeon 32-bit processors, the ES7000 supported 24,000 concurrent SAP Standard Application Sales and Distribution (SD) users, with an average dialog response time of 1.94 seconds, equivalent to more than 2.4 million fully business processed order line items per hour. The ES7000 server ran Microsoft's Windows 2000 Datacenter Server operating system, the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition database, and SAP R/3 4.6C.

Cedar Releases Fourth Annual HR Self-Service/Portals Report

Self-service technology is growing in importance for corporate human resources (HR) executives and having greater impact on broader business objectives, according to results of the 2001 Human Resources Self Service/Portal Survey conducted by Cedar, a global enterprise software, consulting, and services organization. Self-service technology enables employees to use net-based or interactive voice response (IVR) systems to manage HR-related information. The survey looked at such trends as technology in HR service delivery and packaged versus customized solutions, and was based on information collected from over 300 organizations representing over 10 million employees. Apriso Announces the Availability of SAP Solutions for Logistics and Manufacturing Execution

Apriso announced the general availability of its new SAP offering, consisting of logistics execution system (LES) services plus SAPConsole extensions, known as mobile Application Plug-ins (MAPs). MAPs address manufacturing and plant maintenance operations, and offer extra capabilities comprising over 105 standard time, attendance, labor, work in process, plant maintenance, quality control, and product genealogy transactions. Apriso MAPs install in the SAPConsole dynamic menu, provide standard bar code label management and printing capabilities, and work with SAP's graphical user interface or Telnet emulation for RF devices without additional networking investments or third-party middleware.

SAP AG and Crystal Decisions, the makers of Crystal Reports, have announced a strategic agreement to integrate Crystal Decisions' reporting and web-based information delivery technologies within SAP Business Information Warehouse. Through the agreement, SAP and SAP Portals, Inc. customers will have seamless access to Crystal Decisions' presentation-quality reporting, and the ability to distributed formatted reports based on SAP and non-SAP data sources to users inside and outside the company. The deal also includes a worldwide reseller agreement through which SAP and SAP Portals, Inc. will resell Crystal Enterprise and a Crystal Reports Designer.
