From Implementation to Maintenance, DSAG Offerings Cover the Entire Solution Management Life Cycle

As SAP’s array of solutions and technology expands and evolves, DSAG is responding with new initiatives, events, and work groups for member companies. Whether members are considering an upgrade to R/3 Enterprise or confronting strategic business needs that will place new demands on their current SAP solutions, DSAG offers them comprehensive resources over the life cycle of their entire solution landscape.

Migration to R/3 Enterprise is just one example. Recognizing that the upgrade is a key decision for our members, DSAG has established an R/3 Enterprise community, a discussion platform for member companies now running R/3 Enterprise, along with those currently upgrading to R/3 Enterprise or in the final phases of an upgrade decision. This community offers member companies a platform for presenting real-world successes as well as potential pitfalls when moving to R/3 Enterprise. More than a dozen companies are currently involved in the community — one that is destined to grow as more DSAG member companies finalize their upgrade strategies.

Other crucial points along the implementation curve were recently covered in a mix of Theme Days. These events focus on solutions and business topics that help members plan for — and measure the value of — current and future software investments, and include:

  • A Maintenance Extension and Upgrade theme day, where more than 170 participating companies received firsthand information on the technical scope of maintenance support for Releases 4.6C or lower. The success of this event spurred SAP to offer a follow-up series of two-day workshops on maintenance extension, exclusively for DSAG members.

  • A mySAP ERP theme day, which detailed the offerings in the ERP bundle that SAP launched at the beginning of 2003 as part of mySAP Business Suite.

  • A “mini-conference” on ROI, where speakers from academia, Gartner, and SAP provided their commentary on the ROI that DSAG members can expect from SAP installations and software.

New Work Groups have sprung up that focus on a range of topics from SAP solutions and modules — such as Treasury and Risk Management and Supplier Relationship Management — to the databases or platforms that SAP solutions run on, with two new groups for Oracle and Linux.

What’s more, our Influence Activities involve new actions expressly designed for strategic, forward-looking influence on SAP’s software and business process offerings. These actions focus on OEM Relationship Management (ORM) to foster cross-application solutions for the automotive industry in order to connect OEMs, partners, and suppliers, and a Software Logistics council, which focuses on simplifying and streamlining the SAP software management life cycle. Additionally, DSAG member companies recently had the opportunity to test and evaluate SAP’s new functionalities on the Service Marketplace.

As SAP expands its own set of offerings to meet new business challenges, DSAG is ready with a solid framework of support and resources for end-to-end solution management — at whatever point the more than 1,300 member companies find themselves at when it comes to managing and optimizing their SAP landscape.
