Mendocino Puts SAP
Processes and Data into
Microsoft Office

Microsoft Corporation

Microsoft Corporation and SAP AG have announced they are jointly developing Mendocino, a product designed to link SAP process functionality directly to Microsoft Office applications and close the gap between desktop productivity tools and enterprise business applications. SAP processes, such as time management, budget monitoring, organizational management, and travel and expense management, are integrated directly into Microsoft Office through Mendocino, allowing customers to access SAP processes and business information directly from Microsoft programs on their desktop. Mendocino offers extended application menus, an SAP-specific smart panel, business analytics delivered through Microsoft Excel, smart business documents available through Microsoft Word, and synchronization between Microsoft Exchange and SAP processes. Mendocino leverages the openness of SAP's Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA), the Microsoft Office system, and Microsoft .NET to integrate the two companies' technologies, enabling customers to avoid wasted time and effort searching for and duplicating critical corporate information, limit the need for specific training on disparate systems, and gain a transparent view of all corporate processes to mitigate the risk of noncompliance.
