Financials have become more critical and more integral to almost every business process. What once was relegated to the back office has broken free to the rest of the organization, from the CEO's desk to the shop floor, and from there outside the firewall to customers and suppliers.

At SAP, our charge is to provide our customers with a single platform for complete financial management. By "complete" financial management, we mean the need for more than just financial reporting and accounting. Corporate performance management is now part of finance. Compliance and corporate governance are now part of finance. In some industries, planning at the operational level, well beyond the strategic level, is now part of finance. In response, SAP now provides customers with one product, one platform, and a single point of control for the multitude of processes and challenges they will face going forward.

Available for Ramp-Up customers last October, with mass shipment rolling out early this year, mySAP ERP 2005 offers several key enhancements in the financials arena, including: Express Planning, a guided process that automatically brings together financials with people and projects, and integrates with SAP Business Planning and Simulation (BPS); better integration with Microsoft Excel, especially within the role-based work centers that also provide employees with access to their inbox, task lists, and transactional capabilities; and Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM), which manages electronic invoicing, communication, and payments with your suppliers, so that finance is completely synchronized with your business processes inside and outside the organization.

Finance is no longer a function that simply has to collect and report; it is quickly evolving into the steward of business insight to support operational decisions. With analytics and the performance management tools of mySAP ERP 2005, every employee within an organization is empowered to make decisions based on high-quality, simple-to-analyze information that is delivered at the right place and right time — a big shift from the capabilities of tools available in the past.

More importantly, mySAP ERP 2005 will become the basis for a service-enabling architecture within your enterprise. You will have an infrastructure that encompasses processes running across your SAP system and other systems, to provide — in a very timely and adaptive manner — the new core business processes you need to be more versatile than your competitors. With one set of applications and one platform, you can rely upon a true service-enabling infrastructure that is adaptable and flexible, keeping you more nimble and more efficient than your competition.
