The business applications market is undergoing a significant shift. Our customers’ demand for a radically new business model driven by cloud computing and other technological advances, as well as their desire to empower a new generation of technologically savvy business consumers, has resulted in the on-demand delivery of business solutions’ emergence as a compelling new option. Companies of all sizes, and across all regions, are attracted to the on-demand value proposition: rapid time-to-value and a model that shifts operational tasks to vendors, leaving customers to focus on their business.

This on-demand shift is real and profound — and SAP is embracing it purposefully and wholeheartedly. We are poised to lead a new era of on-demand solutions that accelerate our customers’ businesses. Our on-demand solutions embrace new technologies (such as in-memory databases and collaboration capabilities), provide new and improved ways to solve business problems, and can better accommodate the way people work today.

But we can’t do it alone. SAP’s transition to on-demand solutions is founded on a co-innovation approach. Together with our customers and partners, we are:

  • Building on-demand solutions that leverage the high-value content of our ecosystem’s existing on-premise deployments
  • Collaborating with our customers’ IT departments and lines of business to solve their unique business problems
  • Listening to mid-market customers and subsidiaries of large enterprises, and responding to their need for solutions that are low-touch with fast time-to-value, but that also offer end-to-end process integration
  • Reaching out to end users — across industries and geographies — with tools and technologies that build on social networking and analytical capabilities to enable structured and unstructured collaboration and extraordinary productivity — on the desktop, on any mobile device, and across all business contexts

We are taking what we learn from our customer and partner ecosystem and using it to transform the on-demand market for enterprise applications. Our strategy is founded on three solution offerings that cover the full spectrum of usage — from enterprises to individual users:

  1. We will deliver a complete yet flexible on-demand suite for business excellence, covering all the fundamental processes customers need to run their business.
  2. At the same time, we will bring to market innovative and specifically targeted on-demand line-of-business solutions.
  3. We will also deliver on-demand solutions for personal productivity that will transform the way people work. To help individual users become more productive, these solutions leverage innovative tools and technologies both within and outside an SAP context, both on the desktop and on any mobile device.
