ASUG InDepth: Address Critical Issues in a Concentrated Setting

by Nellie Greely | SAPinsider

April 1, 2012

To offer a more immersive educational experience to its members, ASUG has expanded the scope of its conferences. In this article, you’ll learn about ASUG’s pre-conference seminars, called ASUG InDepth, which take place a day in advance of events like the ASUG Annual Conference and the ASUG SAP BusinessObjects User Conference. These full-day or half-day seminars offer extra time to allow presenters and attendees to dig deep into pressing topics.

We have become accustomed to getting answers immediately; in fact, we’ve come to expect it. With more information available to us, at a greater speed than ever before, we have the world at our fingertips. Despite the power of databases, tablets, and smartphones, there are occasions when we still have to invest time to get answers.

For SAP customers looking for answers to complex challenges, ASUG has become an important resource. Education is the core of ASUG’s mission, and our conferences provide an opportunity to connect one-on-one with SAP customers and industry leaders. It is the core value of ASUG’s events — capturing the customer’s voice and facilitating customer-to-customer connections.

In a traditional conference schedule, hour-long sessions presented by subject matter experts provide attendees with best practices, effective tips, and key insights. ASUG understands, however, that some issues are simply too sophisticated for the traditional conference experience. Many years ago, ASUG sought ways to augment its programs for a more involved and complete educational approach. The challenge was how to expand the conference session model to address complex topics and issues, while remaining in the ASUG event setting.

An In-Depth Solution

ASUG has expanded its conferences to offer a more immersive educational experience. Pre-conference seminars, called ASUG InDepth, take place a day in advance of events like the ASUG Annual Conference and the ASUG SAP BusinessObjects User Conference. These full-day or half-day seminars offer extra time to allow presenters and attendees to dig deep into pressing topics. The sessions amplify the effect and utility of ASUG education by addressing essential content in a concentrated setting that provides maximum impact for attendees.

The content for the seminars is hand-picked by the Pre-Conference Task Force, a group comprised of select customer volunteers and SAP industry experts. Tackling topics that are top-of-mind for SAP customers, the ASUG InDepth seminars reflect the depth, breadth, and timeliness of traditional ASUG conference sessions. Seminars at the 2012 ASUG Annual Conference will include:

  • “Extend Your Center of Excellence and SAP-Based Solutions into Your Business,” which teaches attendees how to extend their support organizations into their businesses by creating, managing, and growing a process-based center of excellence
  • “How to Build a Cloud Strategy for Your SAP Center of Excellence,” in which IT industry analysts, SAP experts, and an SAP customer panel discussion helps attendees develop a business-focused cloud computing strategy that encompasses SAP investments and new software-as-a-service offerings
  • “SAP Mobile: Platform and Applications Deep-Dive,” an encyclopedic introduction to the hot topic of mobility and its current technologies, challenges, future trends, applications, and tools
