Achieve Greater Depth of Functionality to Meet Your Business Needs

SAP Solution Extensions Offer a Wide Variety of Capabilities and Integrate with Your SAP Systems

Companies have been investing in SAP solutions for decades to help them manage and optimize their business. SAP customers vary greatly according to industry, however, and are often looking for additional functionality to meet their business requirements. Read this article to see how solution extensions integrate easily and seamlessly within SAP systems to fit your specific business needs.

SAP solutions are specifically designed to help enterprises better manage every aspect of their organization, including finance, HR, procurement, supply chain management, manufacturing, service, sales, marketing, product development, and IT management. They capture your business information in a single, scalable system, and integrate and automate your business processes to deliver the insights you need to improve operations. The result is smarter innovation, faster business processes, and richer customer interaction — all leading to better business performance.

However, SAP customers vary greatly in their business needs according to the industry segments in which they compete and the processes in which they want to invest. They are often looking for additional functionality in their SAP systems to meet their business requirements. To support such customers, SAP has identified key third-party products that are broadly applicable across SAP deployments (see Figure 1). These offerings, called solution extensions, complement core SAP solutions and provide an effective way to get the most out of your SAP investment. Sold by your SAP account rep, each solution extension includes the same level of product quality and commitment that you would expect from SAP, and has been tested to meet SAP’s stringent standards for functional correctness, application integration and interfaces, security, and usability. In addition, solution extensions integrate easily and seamlessly within your SAP systems, so there’s a consistent look and feel.

Application updates and maintenance for the solution extensions are aligned with SAP application life cycles, so IT departments can reduce planned downtime and better manage service-level commitments to the business. If you experience any issues working with a solution extension, SAP serves as your single point of contact for support. Solution extensions are also integrated with the long-term SAP roadmap, ensuring you will continue to see value from your technology investment in the future.

So far, over 8,400 SAP customers have deployed about 50 SAP solution extensions from over 20 partners. In this special report, you will learn about SAP solution extensions for four business areas — sales and marketing, finance, enterprise content management, and IT — as well as the value our customers get from these applications. For example, by using the SAP Invoice Management application by OpenText with SAP Business Suite, one customer improved its account closing cycle from two weeks to less than five days, seeing gains of over 50%.

Whatever your industry segment or department, a solution extension can help you. You can browse SAP’s current list of solution extensions and find out which one is right for you by visiting http://scn.sap.com/community/solution-extensions.
