Verizon Business’s Computing as a Service (CaaS) platform is the first cloud-based option to receive certification to run SAP software. SAP and Verizon say the certification reflects a desire to serve the many customers looking to store more data and applications in cloud-based environments
“With more IT departments adopting cloud-based services, it's a natural progression to begin moving enterprise applications to the cloud, especially with Verizon's secure, high-performance computing environment. Running SAP applications on CaaS will enable companies to streamline how applications are consumed and managed to achieve new gains in productivity and economics,” says Joseph S. Crawford, executive director of IT solutions, Verizon Business.
Verizon’s CaaS infrastructure went through extensive testing to earn the certification, according to SAP, to ensure integration with SAP applications for seamless portal linkages, support flows, and system-to-system connections between Verizon’s CaaS and solutions used by end-user companies. SAP also included a technical review to ensure security processes were reliable and server, software, and storage capabilities would meet its standards.
The CaaS offering promises companies access to SAP’s full portfolio, in what SAP and Verizon say will be a cost-effective and easy-to-implement manner. The cloud-based solution is supported by help desk operat
ors and run in accordance with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.
