Just 3 days before GRC 2010 kicks off in Orlando, registrations are still pouring in in significant numbers. In considering why someone would rearrange a hectic work schedule in order to be out of town for an educational event, my thoughts turn to the business climate in which SAP customers are operating. It's this blogger's opinion that not only are companies under greater scrutiny from government regulatory agencies than ever before--consumer trust in corporate America has eroded to such a low level that companies have no choice but to demonstrate ethical, transparent business practices and processes if they hope to survive and thrive in the economic recovery.
In other words, companies aren't just following the rules out of fear--they recognize that well-governed businesses are the ones that consumers will choose to do business with. That's where the real opportunity lies.
