As of this November, Sybase Mobile Sales for CRM will be available on the BlackBerry. This is long-anticipated news and a noteworthy expansion of the product, as it was formerly only available on Windows Mobile, the iPhone, the iPad, Nokia, and Symbion. Considering how prevalent BlackBerries are in the business world, this will significantly increase SAP CRM's mobile market share.
According to research by the Yankee Group, mobile CRM solutions have a more than 70% adoption rate among enterprise users, surpassing even traditional CRM options (source: Sybase). That's part of the motivation behind SAP's acquisition of Sybase, which now makes several SAP mobile solutions, including Sybase Mobile Sales for CRM. According to Sybase, the experience of using SAP CRM on your mobile device is actually very similar to using "traditional" SAP CRM.
Out of all the solutions that SAP makes, some might say that a mobile CRM application makes the most sense - it's perfect for traveling sales and marketing professionals who don't have the time or appropriate work schedule to log into their desktop computers and access the main SAP CRM application.
Potential users got a sneak peek at the BlackBerry DevCon conference last week in San Francisco,
but everyone else will have to wait until November to see how Sybase Mobile Sales for CRM looks and functions on the BlackBerry. As for Android systems, they are projected to have mobile SAP CRM functionality sometime in 2011.
