You may soon need to rev the engine of your HCM training programs

My colleague, Michael Nadeau, who is attending this week’s SAP TechEd conference in Las Vegas, mentioned in a blog posting yesterday, “There was much talk about hiring new staff.”

Whew—it’s good to hear to some favorable news about hiring straight from company representatives instead of just the business think tanks and pontificators. It’s even better for HCM professionals to hear that report, given their success goes hand-in-hand with having employee services to manage.

I’ll be watching whether a spike in hiring also forces a related jump in training needs. Many people have been out of work for more than a year, and during that time skill sets for jobs and technologies have evolved and perhaps even passed these folks by. New hires may immediately need to kick-start their knowledge and proficiencies.

This potential economic revival also presents a great opportunity to get your SAP ERP HCM talent management systems optimized for employee e-learning, training, tutoring, and other important in-house efforts. Can your HR systems quickly identify the strengths of new employee while also pinpointi ng areas of opportunity to strengthen?

With the 100 mph speed of on-the-job orientation and training these days, any heads up will be a time-saver.
