Like most enterprise applications, SAP tends to be associated with some of the biggest, most recognized organizations in the world. Customers including Nike, Johnson & Johnson, and T-Mobile top the list (to name a few).
Recently, though, SAP has started to cater its BI solutions to meet the unique needs of smaller and mid-size enterprises (SMEs). The SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series, released June 14, does just this, affording smaller organizations the same analytical capabilities of their larger industry counterparts.
The SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series will allow SMEs to leverage solutions such as SAP Crystal Reports and SAP BusinessObjects Explorer for faster, more accurate decision making. In addition, smaller companies now have the option of adopting SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation as part of the Edge Series for their financial consolidation, planning, and budgeting needs.
I think this is a great move for SAP, and one that will (hopefully) spark more innovations in the SME space. Afterall, why should business intelligence only be available to world-wide, industry giants like Colgate-Palmolive or Shell? We all deserve to grow our businesses more “intelligently.”
