I stopped by the SAP booth at the HR, Financials, GRC 2011 event to follow up some of Sanjay Poonen's comments on the impending release of SAP GRC 10 - SAP's next generation applications for governance, risk, and compliance.
A lot of the focus for GRC 10 is on enabling the risk management practice to translate its message for the business side -- what Poonen referred to as striking a balance between left brain (analytical) thinking and right brain (intuitive) thinking. One of the key enhancements to the GRC set is the ability to visualize risk data, elements and processes in ways the business side can comprehend intuitively. A keynote demo showed a drag-and-drop environment where processes, employee groups, and other elements could be linked and delinked with a few mouse swipes while risk data updated itself in real time.
Other enhancements to GRC include unified implementation (previously all three central components had to be implemented separately), enhanced risk analysis reporting, bulk data handling and other features.
SAP representatives will be giving previews of GRC 10 at the SAP booth this afternoon at 5:30 p.m.
