A look at updated compare and adjust functionality in SAP Solution Manager 7.1

by Scott Priest, Managing Editor

September 29, 2011

Somewhat lost in the HANA hullabaloo at SAP TechEd was an abundance of information and excitement about SAP Solution Manager 7.1. It's clear that 7.1 is being well received. What's also clear is that 7.1 represents a major shift in functionality from 7.0. It's a shift both materially and in look and feel.

The compare and adjust functionality, which identifies the differences between the structure and business content assigned to a project and its source, is an example of something that is different in the new version. In her latest Solution Manager Expert article, "Discover the Compare and Adjust Functionality Changes in SAP Solution Manager 7.1," independent Solution Manager consultant Raquel Cunha explores how compare and adjust is altered in 7.1.

Here is an excerpt of her article, just to give you a peek at how the new screens compare to what you're used to in 7.0.

Figure 1 shows the old screen of the Solution Overview available in releases of SAP Solution Manager earlier than 7.1, which could be accessed using transactions DSWP and SOLUTION_MANAGER. Figures 2 and 3 show the Solution Overview in the Work Center, which can be accessed via the SAP Solution Manager Administration Work Center in both releases of SAP Solution Manager. In these screens, you’re seeing SAP Solution Manager 7.1.

Raquel goes into much more detail about the configuration of compare and adjust in 7.1 in the rest of her article, which subscribers can read here. And of course, we'll be covering a lot more of 7.1 in future articles in Solution Manager Expert.
