Google's Android operating system powers almost 42 percent of the smartphones owned by U.S. consumers, according to a recent ComScore survey.  Read Original Content

OneLouder, a new developer of socially powered mobile apps, has announced its SportCaster App is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store and Android on Android Market.  The app combines live stats, schedules and game summaries with commentary from top sports analysts, players and fans on Twitter.  Read Original Content

According to Strategy Analytics, LG Electronics sold 3 million smartphones in North America during the April-June period, garnering a market share of 11.7 percent, up from the 2.5 percent a year earlier.  Read Original Content

The Medias N-04C from NEC Casio Mobile, is an Android handset the company calls the “world’s slimmest smartphone”.  Being just 7.7mm thin, it beats the Galaxy S II, for example, and at 105g, it’s also very light.  Read Original Content

Lenovo is targeting th e business sector with its ThinkPad tablet, which was first announced back in July.  Sporting a 10.1-inch 1280x800 display, the Android tablet is powered by a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, and boasts 1GB of RAM.  Read Original Content

Smartphone sales could be hit this fall as users hold on to their devices instead of upgrading to the latest model.  Technology giants including HTC, supplier of a third of all Android-based handsets, and Apple, the creator of the iPhone, have trimmed their fourth quarter forecasts for Europe and the United States.  Read Original Content
