HCM Sensitive Data Encryption

by Angel Wible

March 29, 2012

Hello All,

We are wondering what other companies are doing to keep in compliance with HCM sensitive data such as SSN and bank account numbers.   We would like to know if anyone is using encryption or masking of these numbers.  If so, how do you accomplish this and what HCM version are you on?

Thank you,

Angel Wible

Hi Angel,
Thanks so much for your post. HR Expert editor MS Hein also posted your question, and you can view the responses here:

One post from Insider Learning Member Kir Chen gave some specific resources: "You can look at SAP Note 1059333 to get a feel on the possibility of data encryption. Alternatively, you may consider Transparent Data Encryption to encrypt data at the database level. See SAP Note 974876."
I hope this is helpful!

Hello Angel. We are working with the ASUG Influence Council on data privacy. Thru that venue, SAP will be developing encryption and masking for sensitive data, including SSN, bank account, and date of birth. Encryption is already available for credit card. We are on version ECC6.05. If you are interested in becoming a member of the ASUG influence council and learning more, please contact me.
