Tips for configuring SAP NetWeaver Portal

This HR tip comes courtesy of Jurijs Lubgans of Zalaris, who is speaking at our upcoming HR 2013 event, 11-13 June in Amsterdam! Learn the four main steps to configuring SAP NetWeaver Portal. 

  • Portal Content Provided by SAP
    • Use portal content provided by SAP
      • Copy ESS and MSS content from corresponding folder
        • ESS:                  com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder
        • ESS WDA:        com.sap.pct.erp.ess.wda.bp_folder
        • MSS:                com.sap.pct.erp.mss.bp_folder
        • MSS WDA:       com.sap.pct.addon.mss.PACKAGEMSS
      • Change portal object IDs
        • Use your own “Object ID Prefix;” for example,  com.company_name
  • Connection to SAP ERP System
    • Java Connectors (SAP JCo)
      • Relevant for Web Dynpro Java applications
      • Create a pair of SAP JCo: Application Data and Dictionary Metadata
        • Location: Content Administration ª Web Dynpro
    • System
      • Relevant for Web Dynpro ABAP applications
      • Create a system to establish connection to SAP ERP
        • Location: System Administration ª System Configuration ª System Landscape
  • Portal Role Structure
    • Use delta links when building a portal role
      • Add iView to Page as delta link
      • Add Page to Workset as delta link
      • Add Workset to Role as delta link
    • Use portal role to provide URL of PCD Pagefor HPFW resources
      • Get the portal page PCD Locationfrom portal role structure
        • Open the role, choose the page, use Properties button
        • Use Information category to check PCD Location
        • Use PCD Location as a value for URL of PCD Page
  • Portal iView Main Properties
    • iView properties to consider according to the application type
      • Web Dynpro Java applications
      • Application Parameters: SAP JCo, HPFW parameters (sap.xss.menuarea, sap.xss.menuargrp, sap.xss.menuhdr)
    • Web Dynpro ABAP applications
      • Application Name:        WDA application name
      • Application Parameters: Parameters for WDA application
      • Configuration Name:   WDA application configuration name
      • Platform:                       Must be “Web Dynpro for ABAP”
      • System:                          System ID defined in the landscape
