Tips for mobilizing HR applications

This HR tip comes courtesy of Dimitri Dupont of NorthgateArinso, who is speaking at our upcoming HR 2013 event, 11-13 June in Amsterdam! Get an introduction to building the mobile business case. 

  • Identify Processes, Applications, and Participants
    • List the following:
      • The processes that you want to redesign via Mobile self-service
      • The applications introduced to make the process more efficient
      • The roles that are affected in the organization
  • Identify Potential Cost Savings
    • Determine cost savings considering the following:
      • Process improvement
      • Reduction in processing times
      • Data accuracy
    • Aim for the quick win at first: High return – low investment
  • Assess the following project parameters:
    • Determine project approach
    • Timeline
    • Estimated cost for software and implementation
  • Educate the Decision Makers
    • Educate the decision makers by sharing data from:
      • Analysts (e.g., Gartner, Forrester)
      • Mobile vendors
      • User groups
      • Etc.
  • Decide Whether to Pursue the Project
    • This involves determining:
      • The company’s internal metrics
      • Matching costs to business goals
      • Identifying costs associated with human components
      • The opportunity costs of not pursuing the project
    • Set self-service strategy priorities that align with the corporate and HR service strategies
