An SAPinsider Studio Video Sampling: Reporting & Analytics 2014

by Ken Murphy, Senior Features Editor

December 17, 2014

I had the pleasure of serving as the SAPinsider Studio host during SAPinsider’s co-located Reporting & Analytics, Planning and Performance Management, and Project Management events in Atlanta in October, 2014, where about two dozen distinguished guests paid a visit to chat about their areas of expertise. SAP executives shared with our viewers some of the finer points of SAP Cloud for Planning, SAP Simple Finance, SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.1, SAP Lumira, SAP HANA Cloud Platform, and SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud. Conference speakers from companies including Microsoft, Siemens Energy, Wrigley, and Lockheed Martin joined us to discuss how they are driving efficiencies using SAP technology, and how they are making their SAP projects run smoothly.

These videos are currently being published to SAPinsiderOnline’s video landing page.  We will continue to add more as we wrap up post-production work, making sure to omit anything that could potentially find its way onto a blooper reel. In the meantime, here are six videos from the event that will help bring you up to speed on SAP’s business intelligence and analytics roadmap. Enjoy.

“One question we asked ourselves – why do people like consumer applications so much? Because they’re beautiful and easy to use and a pleasure to work with – why not do the same thing for business applications?” –  Ivo Bauermann, SAP Global VP and GM for EPM

“It’s always a difficult conversation because everyone wants to see fewer tools but no one wants their favorite tool to go away. So this is something that we’ve been working on even before Bill McDermott announced 'Run Simple' as a priority for SAP.” –  Jayne Landry, SAP's Global VP and GM of BI

“And what SAP Simple Finance can allow large corporations is to have a consistent user experience in the cloud without disparity in terms of where the data organization may be coming from.”William Newman, Senior Principal, SAP Business Transformation Services

“In the upgrade project, we were able to see that for a typical upgrade we would save about $270,000 in a project by utilizing test automation.” – Nathan Sharp, Project Manager, Siemens Energy

“I think the completeness of our analytics suite is really unique; no one in the marketplace has such a broad offering related to analytics.”Clemens Praendl, SAP Senior VP and GM, Analytics (with Ivo Bauermann and Jayne Landry of SAP)

“What we’re doing is we’re going through the process right now of certifying our product on SAP HANA, as well as we’ve actually done some testing with a partner server that is using SAP HANA and it was a successful test so far. So we’re working toward that certification.”Mark Pockl, Solution Specialist, Excel4Apps
