Clearing Open Items in SAP Systems: Q&A on Best Practices for Reconciliation and Automation

For many accounting professionals, linking associated transactions to clear open items within SAP systems can be a challenging process. It often requires the manual identification and then connecting of corresponding transactions to the open item, which introduces unnecessary risk to the business. As a result, clearing open items is often not completed and transactions are written off or left open throughout multiple periods – unnecessarily hitting the bottom line or amassing undetected balance sheet risk. Consequently, the accumulation of open items wastes valuable resources as it slows down both accounting tasks and SAP processes.

Join BlackLine’s Michael Gilmartin and Stephen Wolfman to get tips and to learn best practices for reconciling open item accounts which can result in a fully automated process for the clearing of open item transactions within SAP systems. Hear answers to questions on how to establish more efficient and effective processes for open item management (OIM), such as:

  • What are the best practices around automating the clearing of open items in OIM accounts?
  • Is there an integrated and SAP-endorsed option to address OIM?
  • How do I initiate and execute the open item clearing process within my SAP ERP system to further automate the process?
  • What is the benefit to my organization and how does it mitigate risk to my balance sheet?
  • What is needed for operations to support this on an ongoing basis?

I need to turn on autoclearing for a GL account for only a particular document type. How can i achieve this?
I have specified the GL account and Criteria(Fields which program should match). But dont have any option to specify document type anywhere in F.13 Or in OB74.

Thank You.
