In 1990, fifteen individuals collaborated at the conclusion of SAPPHIRE Orlando to establish an SAP users’ group. Within just a year, ASUG was created.

Since its inception, ASUG has built a reputation of connecting companies with operations around the world. As many ASUG members already know, these connections are key when your company is facing an SAP upgrade, confronting an implementation challenge, or extending into the e-business arena. Most of the time, the solutions and advice you need are at your fingertips because, as we’ve learned, it’s all in who you know.

With the ASUG membership-at-large, including numerous SAP professionals and thousands of SAP partners, your networking opportunities are unmatched. Having a strong base to turn to for answers and recommendations is priceless, and could save your company thousands of dollars. Because of its value proposition, this networking circle has continued to grow over the years. Easy accessibility to individuals who have “lived it, survived it” is of great value, and one you can achieve by being an active ASUG member.

Although individuals are your windows to connections, ASUG’s venues provide other outlets to explore. ASUG Group and Chapter meetings, the ASUG Annual Conference & Vendor Fair, and all help you plug into what ASUG has to offer:

  • Group and Chapter meetings, offered year-round, allow you to collaborate with individuals on specific SAP functionality, or to meet with other SAP customers in your area.

  • Each year, the ASUG Annual Conference attracts nearly 7,000 attendees from varying backgrounds, experience levels, and industries.

  • The revamped was structured around the needs of the ASUG membership and allows you to easily connect with Groups and Chapters, Influence Councils, discussion forum participants, and much more.

Beyond the connections these opportunities provide, the SAP-ASUG partnership influences and strengthens the products and services offered by SAP, while enabling improvements in the way ASUG member companies do business. The newly restructured ASUG Influence Model illustrates how ASUG members can influence SAP through the model’s pillars — Continuous Improvement, Product Change, and Strategic Direction — to better fulfill member companies’ business requirements.

In addition to participating in ASUG Influence Councils, ASUG members find value by fueling discussion in SAP’s Meet the Expert sessions at the Annual Conference and at Group and Chapter meetings, and by actively debating issues in’s Discussion Forums. SAP Usability Testing, which helps to provide input on new solutions and improve existing ones, is another outlet members can find at the Annual Conference as well as at many Group meetings. By contributing your time to these activities, your influence helps pull together more individuals, building a bridge for collaboration and cooperation.

Are you using your connections? Do you use the power of your ASUG membership? Do you plug in to the partnership between SAP and ASUG? It’s never too late to dig in. ASUG has much to offer its membership for those of you looking to connect and access the power within your reach.
