New Offering of IBM's DB2 Bundles mySAP All-in-One Solutions



SAP AG and IBM have bundled IBM's upcoming version of its DB2 database, code-named "Viper," with mySAP All-in-One solutions for midsized businesses. DB2 Viper is a reliable, low-cost database that, when integrated with mySAP All-in-One solutions from SAP and partners, can help midsized enterprises ease configuration, enhance performance, and increase solution availability at consolidated license and maintenance costs. DB2 Viper for mySAP All-in-One solutions includes embedded capabilities such as self-tuned memory, new compression technology, and built-in high-availability and advanced autonomic capabilities. SAP and IBM are offering one year of free maintenance for new mySAP All-in-One customers who run their SAP applications on DB2 Viper.


Next Release of mySAP ERP Features More than 300 Enhancements, Including New GUI and Service-Enablement


mySAP ERP 2005, the latest version of SAP AG's enterprise resource planning application, is now globally available. The solution will use a new, modernized user interface called "Project Muse," which is designed to deliver an intuitive and highly interactive interface through which users can access SAP applications from their Mac, Linux, or Windows desktop, or from integrated mobile devices. mySAP ERP 2005 includes industry-specific functionality embedded into its core for simplified configuration and administration, as well as service-enablement. Among the more than 300 product enhancements are a newly architected general ledger, improved management dashboards, end-to-end talent management tools, improved employee self-service capabilities, and expanded SAP xApp Analytics applications.


SAP and Microsoft Introduce Duet; Users Can Access SAP Applications Through Microsoft Software

SAP AG and Microsoft Corporation announced the availability of Duet software for Microsoft Office and SAP, formerly code-named "Project Mendocino." Jointly developed, sold, and supported by SAP and Microsoft, Duet is designed for users to access select SAP business processes and data through the Microsoft Office environment. Using Duet, managers can access the financial data they need for decision making and employees can record billable hours and submit personal leave requests through Microsoft Outlook, synching that information with mySAP ERP. SAP and Microsoft will continue to enhance the capabilities of Duet, releasing two value packs with additional business scenario support, platform capabilities, and language support in the second half of 2006.


Software AG's Legacy Integrator Adapters Now Integrate COBOL and PL/I Applications with SAP NetWeaver

Software AG, Inc. has extended its Legacy Integrator family of adapters to enable COBOL and PL/I users to integrate their legacy systems with SAP NetWeaver through SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure (SAP NetWeaver XI). The SAP-certified adapters enable applications written in COBOL or PL/I to communicate bidirectionally with SAP NetWeaver and link to SAP solution-based environments. All adapters support synchronous and asynchronous communication initiated by either legacy applications or an SAP process. Through their integration with SAP NetWeaver XI, the adapters are designed to enable customers to leverage applications running on mainframes, iSeries, or Unix systems while assuring central configuration, administration, and monitoring.
