Attendees at the SAPinsider conference in Orlando came with a purpose. They say they need information to do their jobs better. Some are planning new implementations in the CRM or SCM arena. Others want to get more out of already installed SAP systems. Here are a few of the information needs they related to me:
“I want to find out how to get APO [SAP Advanced Planning & Optimization] to talk to ECC [SAP ERP Central Component].”
”We want a supplier portal and I am here to find out more about that.”
“We implemented SCM, APO, Global Available to Promise, ECC, and PP-DS about four years ago, and now we want to see what’s new with them.”
“We want to upgrade our CRM system from 4.0 to 7.0 and we are here to find some tips and tricks.”
“We are going to be implementing a Web channel and are installing Sybase. We want to network with other CRM people about those projects.”
Sales force automation and finding out more about SAP CRM is the aim of one large company.
The co-located CRM and SRM-related conferences met the needs of
a group of four people, who say they are using a divide and conquer method to learn more about both. “Our business need is to improve forecasting and we need to learn more about that. Next month we’ll install CRM and we want to network with other people to get more information.”
One person in that group commented that one of the biggest learning experiences is that they found out about things they didn’t realize they didn’t know.
