When SAP announced it was acquiring 3D visualization software maker Right Hemisphere last year, Michael Lynch, CEO of Right Hemisphere, said: “The combination of SAP’s vast set of business information and Right Hemisphere’s visualization capabilities will change the way businesses of any size create, manage and deliver products and services across their enterprise and their supply chain.”
SAP users got a little better idea of exactly what that looks like today during the keynote for the SAPinsider Supply Chain Management 2012 conference. Sanjay Poonen, president of global solutions at SAP, hosted the keynote which included a demo of SAP Visual Enterprise, based on the Right Hemisphere technology. The combination of SAP’s enterprise knowledge and Right Hemisphere’s visualization technology was intriguing as demos go, but perhaps the most intriguing part came when Poonen said, “And yes—it’s mobile.”
The keynote spanned all areas of the supply chain, from CRM and sales to PLM. Poonen brought Bentley Systems, a maker of engineering software, to the keynote stage to discuss its work with SAP CRM. “Our vision is intelligent CRM,” Poonen told attendees.
In addition to Bentley Systems, SAP customer Cemex and SAP partner Crowdcast were also brought on stage, emphasizing the role the broader SAP ecosystem plays in the development of its solutions. The breadth of the keynote accurately conveys the breadth of this event and the breadth of the supply chain at most companies
today and the breadth of solutions they require.
